The American Antitrust Institute (AAI) filed comments with the FCC Tuesday urging the agency to deny AT&T’s application to take over T-Mobile USA. The AAI said AT&T had not met its burden of demonstrating that the acquisition is in the public interest. On the contrary, the AAI said the merger is highly likely to be anticompetitive and harmful to consumers and was not necessary to achieve AT&T’s claimed public interest benefits.
The comments were written by AAI Director of Legal Advocacy Richard Brunell, with assistance from AAI Advisory Board Members Allen Grunes, Andy Gavil, and Roger Noll and AAI Director of Special Projects Randy Stutz.
