AAI’s history of research, education, and advocacy makes it clear that the antitrust laws are equipped to address the exploitation of both seller and buyer power.
While the antitrust laws have long condemned abuses of seller market power, cases against powerful buyers are less common. It is time for this to change, through new enforcement and legislative priorities. AAI’s research and advocacy enhance our understanding of the sources of buyer power, the ways in which it can be exercised, the types of conduct that can create and maintain it, and the consequences for competition, suppliers, and consumers.
