Deborah Elman is a partner at Garwin Gerstein & Fisher LLP with nearly two decades’ experience representing plaintiffs and defendants in complex antitrust and securities fraud litigation, focusing on the pharmaceutical and financial services industries. She has represented institutional clients and individuals in class actions, opt-outs, derivative actions and arbitrations.
She is a member of the Board of Public Justice, Chair of the AAJ Antitrust Subcommittee, Chair of the COSAL Amicus Committee, Vice Chair of the ABA Price Conduct Committee and a member of the Coordinated Conduct Committee of the NYSBA.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude from Columbia University, where she also received a Masters in Public Health. She graduated cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where she was Lead Executive Editor of the Journal of Law and Commerce.
Elman is admitted to the Bars of the State of New York and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Second, Third, Ninth and Tenth Circuits and the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the Western District of Pennsylvania, and the Northern District of Illinois.
Prior to joining the firm, Elman was a Principal at Grant & Eisenhofer, P.A. She also served as a law clerk to the Honorable William L. Standish in the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. She is a frequent speaker on topics involving class actions and expert witnesses.
