  • Overview

AAI President Diana Moss joined panelists at the 2021 Antitrust Law Spring Meeting of the American Bar Association on March 25, 2021 for a discussion on “High Technology Deals: Are New Standards Warranted?”

The panel was presented by Antitrust Magazine and the Media & Technology and Mergers & Acquisitions Committees. The 2010 Horizontal Merger Guidelines do not explicitly mention platform economics or network effects, killer acquisitions, or acquisitions of nascent technologies by BigTech platforms. Do the guidelines provide the tools needed to address these issues or do they need an upgrade?

SESSION CHAIR & MODERATOR:
Ian SIMMONS, O’Melveny & Myers LLP, Washington, DC

SPEAKERS:
• Asheesh AGARWAL, Deputy General Counsel and Competition Counsel, TechFreedom, Indianapolis, IN
• Diana L. MOSS, President, American Antitrust Institute, Washington, DC
• The Hon. Noah J. PHILLIPS, Commissioner, Federal Trade Commission, Washington, DC
