  • Overview

Moss joined the panel, Big Tech and Mergers: How to Promote a Competitive and Innovative Digital Ecosystem? From the panel description:

The discussion around digital platforms often focuses on the inability of smaller companies to grow. Concurrently, resistance to mergers and acquisitions (M&As) undermines one of the essential tools that businesses have to enter new markets and achieve the necessary scale to compete with large incumbents.

What can be done to promote a competitive and innovative digital ecosystem? Does the U.S. need a more agile M&A review process to account for situations in which smaller firms are trying to compete against large platforms?

Moderator:

Joshua Sisco, Antitrust Reporter, POLITICO

Speakers:

Melanie Aitken, Managing Principal, Co-Head of Competition, Antitrust & Foreign Investment Practice, Bennett Jones (US) LLP

Douglas Melamed, Professor, Stanford Law School and former Acting Assistant Attorney General, Antitrust Division United States Department of Justice

Diana L. Moss, President American Antitrust Institute

John M. Taladay, Section Chair, Antitrust & Competition Law, Baker Botts
