DESCRIPTION:Join our virtual panel discussion\, Oral Arguments\, featuring AAI Appellate Project Steering Committee members Joshua Davis and Deborah Elman\, and special guest Jennifer Bennett\, Principal at Gupta Wessler LLP. Jennifer regularly litigates before the U.S. Supreme Court\, where she has recently won five unanimous victories representing workers. She also regularly handles appeals in both state and federal court on behalf of consumers\, workers\, and civil rights plaintiffs. Her Supreme Court and appellate advocacy have been recognized with several national awards\, including the Pound Civil Justice Institute’s Appellate Advocacy Award\, the American Association for Justice’s F. Scott Baldwin Award\, Public Justice’s Change Maker Award\, and the National Consumer Law Center’s Rising Star Award. She co-teaches the Supreme Court Clinic at Harvard Law School. \nThe panel will discuss steps to take in preparing for oral argument\, including strategies that advocates should practice in advance\, from preparation and moots to presenting your argument and responding to the panel. Speakers will share practical strategies for substantive arguments\, effective presentation\, and rebuttal. This program is organized by the AAI Appellate Project. \nCLE Credits: Approved by the Pennsylvania CLE Board for 1 credit hour.
