On a panel titled "Issues in Food Retailing," AAI President Bert Foer briefly summarized AAI's long-time concerns about the impact of buyer power within the food system. Asked for one policy recommendation, he called for a blue ribbon commission to intensively study buyer power and to make specific recommendations for how it should be handled by public policy. This was the final workshop on agriculture and competition, at the Department of Agriculture on December 8. AAI Vice President Diana Moss had participated in an earlier workshop on the topic of seed concentration.
