AAI President Diana Moss testified before the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary, Subcommittee on Antitrust, Competition and Consumer Rights on December 13, 2017. The subject of the hearing was "Consumer Welfare Standard in Antitrust: Outdated or a Harbor I’m a Sea of Doubt?"
Moss’s testimony, available here, addressed three major issues: One is “climate change” around antitrust and important context for the debate over competition enforcement. A second is the adequacy of the existing approach to antitrust enforcement, the consumer welfare standard, and the vital importance of vigorous enforcement. Moss concludes by identifying priorities for addressing the challenges facing antitrust enforcement and competition policy moving forward.
